Jean Abeles lives with her husband Alan and three children in San Mateo who attended Meadow Heights and Abbott Middle School.  Jean has been a parent and volunteer in the San Mateo-Foster City school district for 17 years, serving at every level from classroom volunteer to PTA President, Site Council Chair, and finally on the Executive Board of the PTA Council of our district's twenty school PTA's.  She completed a two year term as PTA Council President last June; under her leadership the Council received their first ever parent participation award and two parent education and translation grants from the CA State PTA.  Jean has been awarded an Honorary Service Award and Continuing Service Award for her volunteer work in the schools and PTA Council. 

Jean joined the for kids! Board in August 2007 and currently serves as Vice President of Health and Community Concerns for the 17th District PTA of San Mateo County.  She is honored to partner with the district administrators and staff, parents, local businesses and community members to raise much needed funds to enhance the educational experience of all 10,000 students attending schools in our district. 

In her spare time Jean enjoys watching her son play sports, teaching fitness classes at the YMCA, reading, hiking, traveling and enjoying live performances. 

Kathy has lived in San Mateo for 12 years and her 3 children attended Meadow Heights, Beresford, Abbott and Borel schools.

She has enjoyed working as a volunteer and an employee for the Foundation since 2001.
