Your donation will help us achieve our mission: “Mobilizing the entire community through fundraising and educating to support the growth of every child in the San Mateo Foster City School District. Educate, Inspire and Enrich our students.”
The San Mateo Foster City Community Education Foundation was established in 1989 to enhance and enrich the educational experiences of all students in the San Mateo and Foster City Schools and has funded over $ 2.8 million to the district.
In past years your generous response to this request from the San Mateo-Foster City Education Foundation has supported school libraries, computer labs, counseling services, classroom and instrumental music and after-school sports. In 2011, we're planning to do so much more. But the Foundation cannot exist without you. Our community’s support and participation is essential to our mission’s success. As the only district-wide fundraising program benefitting every K-8 student in our community schools, this organization has made a difference in the life of every child, in every school in the San Mateo-Foster City Elementary School District.
But here are some facts. In 2009, other local education foundations were able to raise –
Belmont: $273 per student
Burlingame $322 per student
San Carlos $438 per student
San Mateo-Foster City raised $16 per student - We can do better!
The state budget crisis means even less money reaching our schools from Sacramento. Our district alone has faced budget cuts of $18.7 million over the last three years. We have to do better than $16 per student if our children are going to receive the education they deserve.
Fortunately, we have some good news to share. As the final step in a process called Vision 2020, a new Board has been formed to rejuvenate the San Mateo-Foster City Education Foundation and to help it achieve its potential. We are excited to work with you, our community, as together we enact the vision, foresight, and dedication required to give every child the education that they deserve, and the opportunity to reach their greatest potential. We hope that you will join us in embracing the new Mission Statement for the Foundation:
Mobilizing the entire community through educating and fundraising to support the growth of every child in the San Mateo Foster City School District
Educate, Inspire and Enrich our students
Now, more than ever, your donation is critical. You have reaffirmed your support over and over, demonstrating what we, as adults, believe to be important: the belief that an educational community should ask the very best of everyone so that our children can grow into their dreams.
Thank you, in advance, for your tax-deductible gift and your unselfish generosity.

Here's How it Works • You register any one or all of your existing grocery loyalty, debit and credit cards for use in the program. • Participating merchants will make contributions to your chosen groups (you mayselect up to 3) based on purchases made by you, just by using the cards you have registered. • Your purchases are tracked and available to you online, allowing you to see just how much you are earning on your child's behalf!
The San Mateo-Foster City School District is keeping our community informed regarding how the State adopted budget impacts our District. Below we have provided a link to important information regarding our State adopted budget and how it negatively impacts our District.
"There is a place in America to take a stand: it is public education. It is the underpinning of our cultural and political system. It is the great common ground. Public education after all is the engine that moves us as a society toward a common destiny... It is in public education that the American dream begins to take shape." —Tom Brokaw former anchor NBC Nightly News
